In here is where the process of how a mangaka structures his/her manga. This guide will discuss the main parts of structuring a manga.
1. In manga mangakas usually create a very simple rough draft of their actual manga story which are called "Name". Names are mostly made with very simple drawings (such as stickman drawing) since the main purpose of names is the story line of the manga. So when making names mangakas don't care about the drawings but instead they mind more of the dialogues since it explains the story line. The names are then given to manga editors to have them approve if the story is worth made or not. If it is interesting enough to be published the manga then gets an approval to move on to the next step to create a manuscript or storyboard of the manga.
2.The next step is the manuscript or also known as the storyboard. Now a storyboard is a much more detailed draft of a manga and it has structure in the panels and drawings of the comic. Storyboards aren't supposed to be very detailed but the drawings should be understandable. In storyboards the panels should already be in a specific structure and are not made in random patterns or shapes. The speech bubbles in a storyboard doesn't need to be neat but it still requires the dialogues of each character. Storyboards are made per chapter so mostly it contains around 20 pages (weekly comics) or 50 pages (monthly comics) , but for the So basicly the manuscript is the final draft of a manga chapter. After mangakas submit their manuscript the editorial office of the comic Magazine then discuss if the story is worthy enough to be published or not. Especially for new manga series the editors identify the storyboards critically. In the editorial office the editors also correct mistakes and comment on the storyboards to tell the mangakas what to change and correct. After the storyboards are approved the mangakas only need to do the final step.
3. Now the last step is actually the simples step. Though it is simple it takes the most time compared to the other two previous steps. Well that is because the last step is the "Clean Copy", the clean copy is the final product. So it needs all the details in the drawings, well made panels, well made speech bubbles, good expressions of the characters, and NO MISTAKES. No mistakes!? well that is because the clean copy is the product that will be published into a manga magazine and will be read by people all over the country. With a single mistake it could lessen the rating of the manga series and that is a really bad thing to happen, so when making your own manga clean copy you should be very careful. The clean copy might be the hardest step as well, especially for weekly manga since there isn't much time for the mangakas to finish a manga chapter which is about less that a week to create. So that is why many mangakas have assistants to help them create the clean copy by applying shadings, background details, screentones, etc. Though assistants may cost some money.
